Day one in the big brother house!

... oops i mean on the south west coast path.

We weren't going to, but yesterday Colin and i went all the way ... to Minehead which is suprisingly a lovely little town. This morning we thought we would stretch out legs in readiness for tomorrow, but guess what: once again we went all the way. The weather was lovely so we thought we would get on with it and walk stage 1 - Minehead to Porlock Weir. 10 miles of steep ascents and descents: 4hrs and 38mins (not bad with all the huffing & puffing, and me carrying the ruck sack all the way). Finished with a cold pint of lager & lime: i'm a real classy lady!

Constantine Bay to Mawgan Porth

What a beautiful day its been. The morning started off overcast, but by the time we got going, caught the bus and arrived at Constantine Bay the sun was breaking through the clouds. From then on the weather was perfect for walking: sun (not to hot) and a constant breeze.  The weather made the views exceptional today. The photo's don't do it justice but the colour of the sea is amazing: so many different colour blues. Every bay (and there is many), has golden sand, abundance of space, rock pools (some large enough to use as a small swimming pool), and the sea is enticing (no dipping yet). Some of the smaller bays (harder to access) are exclusive to just a few people.  Colin has been astounded by the sheer beauty of the coastline: the clicking of the camera is constant. Praa Sands to Gunwalloe: we had a cream tea

I'm a bit behind with my blog so this post relates to Wednesday.  It was a slow start to the day. By the time we showered, faffed around, found the farmer to pay for the campsite, faffed around some more, then made our way down to the bar in the bay (home and away) for breakfast it was quite late. After food and a bit more faffing around we started todays walk.  The coast path ambled along: gentle ascents and descents. We came across a mine used in the 1995 version of Poldark (see photo).  The weather was gorgeous ( a little hot and not enough breeze) i think we've all suffered from a bit too much sun; there isn't much shade on the path. We took our time, lots of stops to observe the view and drink water. When we made it to Porthleven (a sun trap), we had out first cream tea (see photo). It was lovely! Falmouth to Porthcurno: a very hot day.

This blog relates to Tuesday.  As proficient campers we were up, packed and ready for the 10am bus back into Falmouth to catch the ferry to St Mawes (the other side of the estuary).  This beautiful weather is certainly lending itself to making Falmouth and the surrounding area rival the Riviera. Falmouth estuary is full of all very expensive, yachts, cabin cruisers, catamarans, speed boats etc... i would imagine there is an awful lot of money floating the Carrick Road ( Carrick Roads is the estuary of the River Fal, It joins the English Channel).  The ferry trip was great, the water was calm, the breeze was welcome. We landed at St Mawes, again a very exclusive harbour and village. A quick transfer to the bus destined to our next campsite at Gerrans/Porthcurno. We quickly put the tents up, grabbed lunch/breakfast from the only shop in the village and set off walking back to 'Place'.
