Constantine Bay to Padstow
I'm not sure if you've noticed but these last three days we've been walking against the flow of the normal route (backwards). Today we finished the stretch between Padstow and Newquay.
We started off where we started yesterday: Constantine Bay. Constantine Bay is a beautiful beach, the houses leading from the main road to the bay are big, decedent and exclusive (expensive real estate). Properties are advertised as 'prestige' holiday homes! The convenience store was the winner of the best cornish pasty 2016, it sold artisan bread... you get my drift, very pretentious.
Along the way there was a few steep ascents, mostly rolling terrain, with lots of fiddley negotiation around more lovely coves and beaches. Luckily the tide had gone out enough for us to walk across Harlyn bay (if not we would have had to wait: the beach is the only route across this section). Although the stsge was only 11 miles, I'm not sure why, but if felt like a real slog today.
Padstow was much the same: heaving with tourists. Padstow is a lovely, quaint harbour and because of this people flock to it, which for me sadly ruins the charm. Anyway we acted like tourists and had Rick Stien fish & chips (£18!!!!) from a box, in the open (how common): they were blooming lovely!
Caught the 17.35 bus: the last bus back from Padstow. 17miles took 80 minutes (dad - you would love these bus journeys, they are an experience). I know what i'll be doing when i retire: Have bus pass, will travel (i am my fathers daughter).
The weather today started off overcast, once again by mid afternoon the sun won the day and broke through. I really caught the sun today: my browns gone to red.
Once again, with pain killers the foots doing well. At the moment i'm walking in trainers, i need to test the foot in walking boots.
There was not as many middle age men in wet suites today: but i plan to gather a collection of photo's, i'll publish them in a few weeks time.
All public toilets seem to be 20p.
Fitbit records: 36,353 steps, 15.5miles, and 131 flights of stairs.
